Hole 1 : B-408/W-402/Y-396 : Par 4 Men/5 Women
With 400 plus yards of soft fairway and punishing rough, the first hole makes for a demanding start to your day of golf at Cedarhurst. Only Tiger and his ilk attempt to carry the ditch 250 yards out which leaves you holding something middle to long for your second shot. Lots of bogies here; if your not warmed up it could be worse!

Hole 2 : B-339/W-338/Y-333 - Par 4
The second hole, a short dogleg right creates opportunities for those who can keep it on the fairway. It's only 170 yards to the corner and bombers often try to blast it over the tall maples to get well within wedge distance of a well trapped, smallish green. Score while you can - the course will show its teeth shortly.

Hole 3 : B-243/W-338/Y-238 : Par 3 Men/4 Women
How do you spell nasty?! It starts with 240 yards and ends with a heavily trapped postage stamp of a green. A bank of trees left catches your duck hook and out of bounds and a reload face your blocked shot right - that's if you can get it there! No fun here but when you par - ooh what a rush.

Hole 4 : B-452/W-426/Y-402 : Par 5
Your eyes light up with the yardage but distances can be deceiving. First some decisions must be made. A ditch 200B/173W yards out to carry (farther with a west wind) leaves the chance of getting there in 2 - irons in for the big hitters. Most, however, lay up and it's 2 more shots to a diminutive patch of heavily trapped green. But best hit that green, or the bunkers or the green-side rough will leave you with a tough up and down.

Hole 5 : B-313/W-300/Y-292 : Par 4
Another shorty - this one a four - but a narrow fairway with out of bounds right and pines down both sides of the narrow fairway mean accuracy is critical. And if you hit the fairway, good luck getting it onto the small patch of short stuff that's your next target. This one should yield tons of birdies - but it doesn't.

Hole 6 : B-189/W-185/Y-181 : Par 3
A decent carry to a narrow, well-protected, sloping green makes number 6 a challenging par 3. The forest that lines the left side of the fairway puts you in serious jail so many line-up right and hit it there. The green slopes right to left and if the pin is cut right, you've short-sided yourself for an impossible up and down. Hit it on the green and there's no trouble!

Hole 7 : B-292/W-287/Y-289 : Par 4
Under 300 yards, here's another hole with scoring potential. Driveable for the grip-it-and-rip-it set, this hole is protected by traps and green-side rough that make hitting the green imperative. A large pond right and trees down both sides of the fairway make an accurate drive crucial. Still, something short off the tee leaves you something very short in - but make the putt.

Hole 8 : B-174/W-153/Y-146 : Par 3
Sand right, ditch short and cedars on 3 sides makes you pay for a wayward tee shot. The hole seems to play one club longer than the yardage which is strange off an elevated tee. Swirling winds down through the shoot can make club selection an adventure but an accurate tee ball to a medium-sized green should yield results.

Hole 9 : B-346/W-331/Y-319 : Par 4
The blocks on this interesting finishing hole sit in a narrow chute that rewards a fade with its left to right layout. The fairway is narrower than it looks because of the pronounced right to left slope that will kick long, left-sided drives into the ever-present trees and a flat out hack sticks you in the ditch. A good drive should leave you with a medium to short club uphill to the smallest green on the front nine. It's so small it doesn't need protection but its got it anyway with a trap front and cedars left. If you get on this one two, count your blessings. Grab a snack - you're going to need it for the back!
